The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi, today received the President of the Somali Regional State, H.E. Mustafe Muhumed Omar and a delegation led by him on a working visit to the capital Hargeisa.

After the meeting, which lasted for several hours, the Minister of Information, Culture and Awareness of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Saleban Yusuf Ali Koore, and the Minister of Public Works of the Somali Regional State, Mr. Abdirahman Iid Dahir, spoke to the press and elaborated on the content of the meeting and the areas of particular focus, security and trade cooperation.

The Minister of Information, Culture and Awareness of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Saleban Yusuf Ali Koore, who addressed the meeting, welcomed the delegation led by the President of the Somali Regional State, and said that the talks focused on security and Trade, as the Republic of Somaliland and the Somali Regional State share many interests, he said, “We have fully discussed trade issues, security and will take a closer look at the situation in the Horn of Africa. Additionally, we discussed our personal issues in a friendly and fraternal way. This ended in success and consensus, and we agreed well on the points we discussed.”

Similarly, the Minister of Public Works of the Somali Regional State, Mr. Abdirahman Iid Dahir, who also addressed the gathering, thanked the President of the Republic of Somaliland, his government and the people for the warm welcome extended to their country by the delegation led by President Mustafe Cagjar. He emphasized the need to focus on security and trade, and said: “The visit of President Mustafe and his delegation focused primarily on security and trade. In terms of trade, there is a lot of work that the Somaliland government has done well with us, including the issue of controlling the exchange rate, and a joint action by both governments has succeeded in curbing it.”
