His Excellency, President Muse Bihi Abdi, received the newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yasin Haji Mohamud, at the presidential palace. The President was accompanied by the Speaker of Guurti (Upper House), members of the Parliament, Cabinet Ministers, senior executives of Kulmiye Party and other distinguished guests.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, first congratulated the newly elected Speaker, Yasin Haji Mohamud Hiir (Farotoon), describing his election as a success for the entire nation. Similarly, the Speaker of Guurti, Saleeban Mohamud Adan, also praised Faratoon’s personality and leadership, calling on the council to work well with him.
President Bihi congratulated Hon. Yasin Haji Mohamud on his election as Speaker of the House of Representatives. He described the election as a big step towards peace in the Sool region and a clear message to the world showing how Somaliland is united in its commitment to peaceful coexistence.
The President also called on the Somaliland people to prepare for the upcoming political parties and presidential elections, which will be organized as scheduled by the Electoral Commission.
