The 88th Session of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland chaired by the President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi, and accompanied by the Vice President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail (Saylici) was held at the Presidential Palace. The Council heard briefings from the Minister of Interior, Hon. Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, on security issues, as they organize and prepare for the 18th May commemoration.
The Minister of Water Resources Development, Hon. Ali Hassan Mohamed (Ali Marehan) also briefed the council on the drought situation in the country and the visit of the Drought Relief Committee to the eastern regions, noting that the drought in the country is getting worse by the day.
After much discussion, it was decided at today’s meeting that in order to support the people affected by the drought, the President of Somaliland, the Vice President and the members of the Council of Ministers should contribute one month’s salary to drought relief, thus by accelerating and strengthening the drought relief efforts.
Finally, the council recommended that fundraising efforts be made by the business community, the diaspora and the people of Somaliland to support the drought-stricken people.
