Earlier today, the 115th session of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland was held under the chairmanship of President Muse Bihi Abdi. Prior to the start, the Minister of Interior briefed the Council on the general security of the country, and the Minister of Financial Development presented an overview of the economic situation to the Council.

The council also discussed the upcoming elections in the country and how the Kulmiye Party can prepare to compete with the other two national parties in the next ten years. The council also discussed preparations for the meeting of the Kulmiye Party Central Committee, which is scheduled to take place in Burco on August 20, 2023.

On a separate matter, the council was presented with the draft Retirement and Rights Act of Somaliland Public Employees, which was prepared by the Civil Service Organization and the Attorney General’s Office. The Attorney General provided more details to the council about the draft act.

The council concluded its meeting by discussing and approving the Data Protection Act, which was approved by a majority vote. The act will be forwarded to the Legislature for further consideration.
