The President of the Republic of Somaliland, and Chairman of the Kulmiye party, attended a grand ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the founding of the ruling party Kulmiye. The ceremony was held at the Mansoor Hotel in Hargeisa, and accompanying the President was the Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail (Saylici), members of the party leadership and many other dignitaries, some of whom spoke in depth about the various stages the party has gone through and the successive victories it has achieved in the recent elections in the country. 

Prior to the start, Mrs. Amina-weris Sheikh Mohamed Jirde, the wife of the former President of the Republic of Somaliland and the Founder of the Kulmiye party, Hon. Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud (Silanyo), addressed the gathering, congratulating the party on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the party’s founding. Amina underlined that Kulmiye is a force to be reckoned with which has a large number of supporters within the country and abroad, and is committed to building on the party’s success.

Politician Mohamud Hashi Abdi, for his part, described the party’s successes over the past 20 years, the democratic transformation of its leadership and the artistic approach to resolving disputes, noting that the party has a clear path to success.

Speaking at the forum, the Minister of Interior and first deputy Chairman of the Kulmiye Party, Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, elaborated on the history of the party’s successes, and noted that Kulmiye has put a lot of effort into Somaliland over the past 20 years that led to the development of the country and its people.

Similarly, the Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Hon. Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail (Saylici), one of the founders of the Kulmiye party, congratulated the leaders and supporters of the Kulmiye party, and went on to describe the long journey to the party’s success.

His Excellency, President Musa Abdi, who delivered a wide-ranging speech to the public at the forum, first outlined the founding pillars of the Kulmiye party, which are the foundations of the party’s leadership. In his remarks, President Bihi said, “The three pillars that have guided this party are patriotism, solidarity as well as the security and economic development of the Somaliland people.” 

The President went on to say, “Today, my term as the party’s chairman is coming to an end, and soon a new chairman will be elected. I would like to tell the Kulmiye community that we will not disagree on this issue but will in fact come to the conference united as always.“
