H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi, President of the Republic of Somaliland, convened an emergency meeting to discuss the problems and losses caused by the clashes that took place on Friday morning in the areas surrounding the town of Las-Anod.

The meeting was attended by the Senate Speaker, Saleeban Mohamud Adan, Vice President Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail (Sailici), Waddani Party presidential candidate Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Irro), cabinet ministers, and Kulmiye Party leadership. The focus of the meeting was on how to unite the people of Somaliland in the face of the current challenges and to defend their country together.

In his address to the public, President Bihi Abdi sent his condolences to the families and relatives of the soldiers who died in yesterday’s fighting. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The president stressed that the national army is as strong as ever and that the enemy will be defeated. He called on the people of Somaliland to stand together and support the national forces.

“The people of Somaliland should not be disappointed,” said President Bihi Abdi. “We will not allow one defeat to shake us. Our army is still the same: strong, determined, and patriotic. We will find those behind this attack and make them pay.”

President Bihi also assured the international community that Somaliland’s national forces will not take any action that could destabilize the country. He reiterated Somaliland’s commitment to peace and its intention to continue playing a role as a peaceful and stable country in the region.

Waddani Party candidate Abdirahman Irro affirmed the unity of the Somaliland Republic nation in defense of its sovereignty and support for the national forces. In his remarks, Irro said, “Somaliland Republic is united in all national endeavors and development and defense. We reaffirm our commitment to unity, patriotism, and development. We will not allow anyone to divide us or infringe on our national interests.”
